Aquarius Season and Actually Making the World a Better Place

Happy Aquarius Season earth babies! As I am typing this the sun is in last degree of Capricorn and tomorrow we have our very first day of this year’s Aquarius season. With Mercury, Jupiter and Saturn all already in the sign of Aquarius this will be a very Aquarian season indeed!

Today I’m inspired by the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his radical and revolutionary work. I am most inspired by the work and quotes I see shared on social media that are highlighting how radical his message and work actually was. Dr. King and Aquarian themes ask us to do more to get things right.

Aquarius energy vibrates at the frequency of progress, humanitarianism, and revolutions. Aquarius season is making available to all of us in the collective the energy of actually making the world a better place. Aquarius is connecting us to what fuels the work of actually doing better. Of living a life that our ancestors look back on with gratitude and appreciation. To borrow from Layla F. Saad who wrote Me and White Supremacy, I am asking myself, and asking you to ask yourself, the question “Is this helping me become the good ancestor I want to become?”.

Aquarius season asks us to prioritize this by bringing our attention to this question day after day, and by the time the season is over, we’ll have the habit ingrained and we’ll continue mindfully checking in with our intentions, actions, and impact for the rest of our days. We’ll have effectively shifted the paradigm. Can we accomplish this in one month? Anything is possible for certain, but we have a couple of years of Saturn in Aquarius doing this work, and then a dozen years or so of Pluto in Aquarius starting in 2023, ah and if that doesn’t get it done we do have this entire Age of Aquarius which some say is a couple thousand years.

If you find yourself feeling frustrated (Aquarius does have a tendency to get frustrated and burn themselves out ranting within their frustration especially when they feel stuck) during this astrological weather and with strange levels of manic and then exhausted energy this season try the following:

  1. Calm your nervous system (it’s your job to meet your needs, including learning about what soothes your nervous system try deep breathing, going to a quiet dimly lit space, soothing music, amethyst, sipping slowly and entire glass of water, getting out in nature, eating grounding foods, etc)

  2. Take action to help make the world a better place (donate time, money and other resources to groups that are showing up for the community, and/or help someone personally)

Organizations I like to support: https://www.equitablegivingcircle.org/donate

Black Resilience Fund

3. Audit your spending- where you spend your dollars is whose business you’re supporting, are your actual spending habits in line with your theoretical values to support small and BIPOC owned businesses?  Take a look! If you are looking for more BIPOC and small businesses to support click here for a list I put together during the Winter Holiday season

4. Cancel subscriptions to businesses that are not aligned with your values, redirect that money to a monthly donation subscription!

Thank you for reading and please let me know of any BIPOC owned or other favorite small businesses you suggest for adding to the list on my blog!

Best,

Liz
